Fornalutx will belong to the list of the most beautiful town in Spain in 2017, according to the International Atlantic Fair. This list gathers a very select group of populations throughout the Spanish territory, less than 50 villages are part of it, and Fornalutx is the first and only award-winning village in all Mallorca and Balearic Islands.
From the Association “The most beautiful villages in Spain” have assured that Fornalutx is “a quiet town where visitors can find both the forest and the mountains as well as the sea, making it a perfect enclave to spend a few days of rest and disconnection “.

Fornalutx on several occasions has been part of the municipality of Sóller but since 1837 has its own Town Hall. In 1983 he was awarded the Silver Plate by the Tourism Promotion of Mallorca for the Defense and Maintenance of the Villa. This same year it obtained another award and in this occasion on the part of the General Secretary of Tourism that granted to him the II National Prize of Embellished and Maintained Towns of Spain.
During the time of the Franco regime, he was awarded the title of Pueblo Pictoresco and in 1995 he was awarded the Alzina Prize for the work in favor of Nature, a prize given annually by the Grup Balear d’Ornitologia i Defensa de la Naturalesa.
